New Lasting Power of Attorney Form.
At long last, after months of promises, they have listened and revised the longwinded LPA document.
It is now 11 pages long, has a shorter prescribed information sheet, referred to as 'Information you must read' and allows for ticks instead of the preferred crosses for their scanners. They have colour coded it and made Part A blue, Part B the same green and part C yellow. They have relented on the information that only one Notifiable person is needed to avoid two certificate providers and called these 'People to be told' instead. The term used for how attorneys can act has reverted back to Jointly, Jointly and Severally as well as Jointly for some decisions, and Jointly and severally for other decisions. This is instead of Together and Together and Independently. Other than that it contains the same information except they are now saying you can have as many Attorneys as you like. They warn against too many being a good idea, but in theory they could have twenty and it would make life quite fun for those poor attorneys. They new form replaces the old one immediately and a version is now on our website at www.thewillcompany.com Please still use the same instruction form and prescribed information form to outline what needs to be read by your clients as the content is still valid. We shall produce a newer shorter version and that will be on the web site too soon. We feel that at last they are listening. Many complaints about the old forms were listened to and it would appear to be easier to understand. Only time will tell of course.
